IOTCOMM has upgraded 50,000+ streetlights across Lanzhou New District — China's first national-level new district in the Northwest. The project deploys dual-mode communication (PLC+RF433), a solar streetlight monitoring system, and a SaaS-based IoT platform, delivering 40%+ energy savings and 50%+ reduction in maintenance costs.

Lanzhou New District, approved by China's State Council in 2012, is the first national-level new district in Northwest China — a strategic hub for the Belt and Road Initiative. Modernizing its public lighting infrastructure became a critical step in the district's broader smart city transformation.

This is not a simple lamp replacement — it's a full-stack smart upgrade spanning hardware, communication, and platform. 50,000+ streetlights are now equipped with IOTCOMM's single-lamp controllers for granular management. The dual-mode communication (PLC+RF433) leverages existing power lines for zero-cost wiring while RF433 serves as wireless backup for complex terrain. The project also integrates solar streetlight monitoring and a SaaS-based IoT platform with emergency command and mobile monitoring terminals.

Dual-mode (PLC+RF433) guarantees 99%+ online rate across the district's vast terrain. The SaaS-based IoT platform enables multi-tenant, multi-tier management with fast deployment and low maintenance — all 50,000+ devices managed on one dashboard. Emergency command and mobile monitoring terminals integrate lighting into the broader city emergency management framework.

Smart control enables remote on/off/dimming for every single lamp. The system auto-adjusts brightness based on sunrise/sunset times, ambient light, and air conditions — dimming during low-traffic hours to maximize savings. Fault alerts are generated within 3 seconds with precise lamp-level positioning. Results: 40%+ energy savings per lamp, 50%+ reduction in maintenance costs.
This is IOTCOMM's largest streetlight IoT project in Lanzhou, following earlier success in Lanzhou High-tech Zone. It stands as a benchmark for smart city development in western China — proving that large-scale streetlight IoT is both technically viable and economically compelling across the region's diverse terrain
